ACTIVE-INGREDIENT OF FLUCORAL CAP

Each capsule contains: Fluconazole 150 mg .

INDICATION OF FLUCORAL CAP

• Oropharyngeal, oesophageal & vaginal candidiasis. Fungal infections of the skin & nails due to candida or dermatophytes.
• Serious systemic candidal infections including urinary tract infections, peritonitis and pneumonia.
• Cryptococcal meningitis.
• For the prophylaxis of fungal infections in immunocompromised patients.

DOSAGE OF FLUCORAL CAP

• Follow all directions given to you by your pharmacist or doctor carefully .

Ask your pharmacist or doctor for help if you do not understand the instructions on the box .

The recommended dose is : –

• Vaginal candidiasis : A single oral dose of 150 mg is given. Oropharyngeal candidiasis : 200 mg on the first day, followed by 100 mg once daily.
• Treatment should be continued for at least 2 weeks.
• Oesophageal candidiasis: 200 mg on the first day then 100 mg once daily.
• Doses up to 400 mg may be used based on response to therapy.
• Systemic candida infection: Initially 400 mg followed by 200 – 400 mg daily.
• Candida urinary tract infections: 50 – 200 mg daily.
• Cryptococcal meningitis: 400 mg on the first day, followed by 200 mg once daily up to 400 mg daily based on response to therapy.
• N.B.: In patients with impaired renal functions, dose adjustment is required according to the rate of creatinine clearance.

OVER-DOSAGE OF FLUCORAL CAP

• In the event of overdosage, supportive measures & symptomatic treatment with gastric lavage if necessary may be adequate.
• Forced volume diuresis would probably increase the elimination rate, as Fluconazole is largely excreted in urine.

CONTRA-INDICATION OF FLUCORAL CAP

It is contraindicated in patients who have shown hypersensitivity to Fluconazole or have acute liver diseases.
